At BIU, this responsibility falls on Dr. Sandra Verde, whose professional interests primarily encompass the use of information technology and telematics in education. She advocates for autonomy, transparency, innovation, and research. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, specializing in the issues of Social and Economic Sciences; a Master's degree in Education Administration Management; a Master's in History of Venezuela; a Doctorate in Andragogical Education; and a PhD in History. She has completed postgraduate courses in Organizational Development, Organizational Leadership, Curriculum and Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Quantitative, Qualitative, and Mixed Methods, and Research Instrument Construction, among others.
What Are the Impact Objectives of Our Work with Students in Society?
As the Academic Dean of BIU/University, my mission, and the mission of our institution, is to empower students to harness the potential of technology and education for the direct betterment of society. We firmly believe that by investing in our students, we are actively contributing to the advancement and prosperity of society as a whole.
Our impact objectives are inherently rooted in benefiting society through our work with students. We conduct workshops on personal development, teamwork, openness to change, leadership, decision-making, self-esteem, and meeting management, among other areas. These workshops are designed to empower individuals to become more capable and engaged members of society, fostering personal growth that directly contributes to the benefits of their communities.
In my research, I focus on areas such as research methodology, epistemology, research instrument design, quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods, systematic reviews, and educational project formulation and evaluation. I aim to develop evidence-based practices that have a profound impact on educational institutions and, in turn, society as a whole.
With extensive experience in Distance Education in Postgraduate programs and research, my academic interests extend to areas such as Leading Management, New Paradigms in Education and Research, Adult Learning Strategies, History Teaching, and the ethical integration of cutting-edge technology. These interests are all inherently aligned with the central objective of creating a more informed, capable, and ethically responsible society.
